Упражнение 1.
Перепишите следующие предложения и переведите на русский язык. Определите по грамматическим признакам, какой частью речи являются слова оформленные окончанием «s» и какую функцию это окончание выполняет, т.е. служит оно:
- Показателем 3- го лица единственного числа глагола в Present Indefinite;
- Признаком множественного числа имени существительного;
- Показателем притяжательного падежа имени существительного.

A NEW TYPE OF AGRICULTURAL SCHOOL
General secondary education is compulsory all over Russia. There are universities and other higher educational establishments in all cities. Specialized secondary education is an important part of the educational system. Various types of modern specialized secondary schools train specialists for various branches of economy, forestry and agriculture among them. These specialists will be able to solve independently technical and organizational problems. One of such schools – a modern agricultural school – is in Russia. It is in a park of more than fifty hectares. Many teachers, laboratory and other personnel work here. About a thousand students study at school to become specialists in farm production.
The school is a part of a very large farm, which is very rich. It has large areas under grapes, grain crops and tobacco. It also breeds cattle and produces dairy products. They mechanized most agricultural processes both in crop cultivation and livestock breeding.
The close combination of education with production and theory with practice helps the students greatly to understand better their lectures on agricultural processes and operations. The students attend the laboratories and classrooms that have electronic equipment, television sets and other apparatus. The students study the most modern methods of farming at present. They live in new hostels. At school there are all kinds of facilities for sports, arts and music. Most of the young people who finish this or similar type of school of which there are many in Russia work on farms and inter-farm organizations.
